На 30.11.2011 беше објавено дека Ромската Регионална Образовна Младинска Асоцијација од Кратово, заедно со своите партнери РАА-Албанија, ЕРГО-Белгија, Интегро-Бугарија и Едром-Турција се добитници на грант за зајакнување на жената поддржан од ИПА-програмата на Европската комисија.
РРОМА заедно со своите партнери ќе спроведуваат две-годишна кампања за зајакнување на Ромската жена во општеството. Конкретно, во Македонија РРОМА својата кампања ќе ја спроведува во општините Штип, Велес, Кочани, Виница, Берово, заедно со Пехчево и Црник.
Базирајќи се на својот пристап на креативно истражување со употреба на веб 2.0 алатки, РРОМА ќе се концентрира на проблеми како што се: Слободата на избор кај Ромските девојки, Полова еднаквост внатре во Ромските семејства, Семејно и насилство во врска, малолетнички бракови, учество на Ромките во јавниот живот, планирање на семејство и стапката на вработеност кај Ромските жени.
Проектот започна со фаза на подготовка, во која што ќе бидат креирани локални фокус групи за работа, чии што капацитети ќе бидат подигнати со обуки. Новост е што секоја фокус група ќе биде водена од т.н. Агентка на промена, која воедна треба да биде пример и мотивација за другите. Агентките на промена се членки на РРОМА, кои што веќе поминале низ одреден вид на обуки и ќе им помагаат на локалните фокус групи.
Официјално кампањата ќе започне на 1.Јуни, 2012 во Брисел, каде што младите Ромки од Македонија заедно со останатите партнери ќе имаат средби и активности со личности од Европските институции.
РРОМА својата кампања ќе ја започне со истражување за стапката на вработеност кај Ромската жена и половата еднаквост во Ромските семејства. Паралелно, со тоа ќе има и дигитална кампања која што ќе се вика „ Јас реагирам ...“.
As some of you already know, RROMA was preparing an application for the MTVStaying Alive Foundation (SAF). The whole idea came from the youth, who thought that is about time we break the taboo and stigma that this community have regarding certain topics as sexual intercourse and diseases and start to address a serious issue concerning the health of the people. The issue was AIDS, the HIV virus and STD.
We found out on the internet about the MTV SAF application and sent out a resume of 300 words, just to check out our luck and see if these people would be interested to hear about a small Roma NGO from Macedonia and their idea. The people from SAF liked it and sent us a whole application form, which meant that we were in the second round for their award. After sending out the application we got notified that we are in the third and final round, before getting approved, so we had a interview via phone with MTV SAF and on the 27 of May we got notified that our project got approved.
This means RROMA will work one year under the logo of MTV SAF on an awareness campaign regarding AIDS, HIV and STD.
As you know RROMA's vision is Roma youth to become promoters of positive values. This is more than positive :)) this is great. Because for the first time a NGO from Macedonia got an award from MTV and the NGO itself is a Roma NGO. This project gives Roma youth the opportunity to be leaders of a change and to break the stigma and taboo not only for them selves, but also for the others around them. Roma youth will have a leading position and the chance to be assertive and leave the shadows of "passiveness" behind.
Велес, 3 април (МИА) - Во младинскиот парк во Велес денеска се одржа забавно-образовна манифестација во рамки на кампањата Типичен Ром што ја организира Регионалната ромска младинска асоцијација на Македонија во соработка велешката НВО „Јакипе“.
На манифестацијата младите Роми од Велес, но и од Берово, Пробиштип, Кратово и Кочани настапија со креативни инсталации и точки со современи танци.
- Преку овие инсталации сакаме да прикажеме дека сме тука и дека треба да ни се посвети поголемо внимание. Воопшто, целта на проектот е да се бориме против стереотипите и предрасудите кон Ромите, и истовремено да ја зајакнеме свеста кај самите Роми активно да се вклучат во борбата против механизмите на исклучување, вели координаторот на проектот Мустафа Јакупов.
Кампањата „Типичен Ром“ е меѓународна кампања финансирана од Фондацијата Сполу Интернешнл, а освен во Македонија се реализира и во Албанија, Бугарија, Романија и Молдавија. Започна во ноември 2009, а ќе биде заокружена на 8 април, годинава во Кордоба, Шпанија каде ќе се одржи Ромски самит.
Во рамки на кампањата во Македонија се спроведе истражување за структуралните механизми на дискриминација и маргинализација на Ромите. Втората фаза беше посветена на создавање позитивна слика за Ромите, а во тие рамки беше избран и најпријателскиот градоначалник кон Ромите. Оваа ласкава титула од Македонија ја понесе штипскиот градоначалник Зоран Алексов. Тој заедно со претставниците на ромските организации од Македонија и останатите земји ќе биде гостин на Ромскиот самит во Кордоба, на кој ќе биде претставена Црно-белата книга за Ромите која содржи негативни и позитивни примери за Ромите. Housing for socially vulnerable Roma and free language courses – these are just some of the initiatives taken by the city of Stip in North-Eastern Macedonia, headed by Mayor Dr. Zoran Aleksov. The Macedonian selection committee of the “Most Roma-Friendly Mayor” competition in this country was sure about it: Mr Aleksov is “The father of our town!”
The Most Roma-Friendly Mayor Competition
In the framework of the international campaign “Typical Roma?”, Roma youth organisation RROMA from Kratovo in North-Eastern Macedonia organised a competition to select the most Roma-friendly Mayor in Macedonia. After some discussions, the National Team of RROMA decided that it would be the best to hold the competition in the region where the organisation is most active, which means the north-eastern region of the Republic of Macedonia. We sent out an application to the twelve nominated municipalities in the region. These municipalities had to answer a number of questions concerning their Roma community, starting with a description of their community, information about the interethnic relations, participation and dialogue, the Roma strategy of the municipality, employment, education and a why their mayor should be selected as the “Most Roma-Friendly Mayor”.
Out of twelve municipalities, six (Kratovo, Kriva Palanka, Sveti Nikole, Veles, Stip and Vinica) sent in an application. After the deadline had passed, the selection committee held a meeting to decide who would be the winner. The selection committee consisted of three committee members for minorities’ issues, one committee member from the local self-government for council affairs, one representative from Spolu International Foundation and one member of the National Team of the `Typical Roma?`- campaign in Macedonia.
After studying all the applications, the committee chose the Mayor of Stip as the winner of the competition. Dr. Zoran Aleksov, Mayor of Stip, scored 34 points out of 36. Right after Stip came the Mayor of Vinica, who had 31 points. The Mayor of Kriva Palanka scored 24 points, the Mayor of Kratovo 16 points, the Mayor of Veles 14 points, and the Mayor of Sveti Nikole 7 points. Why the Mayor of Stip?
During the call for the applications, the National Team of RROMA held several meetings with the Mayors to hear their personal opinions about the “Typical Roma?” campaign. One of the mayors we visited was Dr. Zoran Aleksov, Mayor of Stip. We were really surprised about the mayor’s approach and the way he approached solving the problems in his municipality, as well as his approach to the inclusion of Roma in his municipality. According to Mr. Aleksov, “The Roma are one segment of the mosaic of our municipality”. Answering RROMA youth coordinator Mustafa Jakupov’s question, “What are the main problems that the Roma from Stip are facing?”, Dr. Aleksov answered: “The housing situation and the educationial level”.
According to Mr. Aleksov, the Municipality of Stip is undertaking action to ease the precarious housing situation for Roma in his city. “The Municipality of Stip is preparing 40 buildings were socially vulnerable families will live. These buildings are especially meant for those people, whose houses are not urbanized. For that aim, our Municipality has already received one million Macedonian Denars from the Roma Decade programme (roughly 150.000 Euro) and from the budget of the Municipality of Stip another 250.000 Denars will be added to this housing plan”.
Also in the area of education, the Municipality of Stip is taking steps. “When we are talking about education, my main concern is school abstinence, children not going to school. In order to change this situation, the municipality started a project in collaboration with the schools for after-school education of the youth. In this project, we organise language-courses for free. Around 3000 candidates applied, 200 of them are Roma. Still, I am not satisfied with the number of Roma, since I was expecting that more Roma would apply”, says Dr. Aleksov.
Nationality is not the decisive factor
Mr. Aleksov has an interesting perspective on the interethnic life in his town. In our municipality, the interethnic relations are relaxed and I don’t see or divide people according to their nationality. I see people mainly as either well-situated or less fortunate, and those who less fortunate need our help”. According to Dr. Aleksov, the Roma should not be abused for political causes. “They need a chance to find their place in society. Their nationality is not the cause of the problem.” How is Dr. Aleksov planning to solve the problems which he mentioned? “During my mandate, we need to start brain storming, and during the next two or three mandates, we need to start solving the issues, since the problems are not here since yesterday.” From this meeting, we concluded that the Mayor did not prepare himself in any special way, nor did he arrange specific actions just to please us as an NGO or as Roma. To us, it was obvious that this man has a long-term vision on how to solve the problems in his municipality. Therefore, he deserves the title “Father of the Town” and “Most Roma-Friendly Mayor 2010” of the North-Eastern region of the Republic of Macedonia.
We wish him all the best and luck for the realization of his plans and we wish more authorities like him.
This period besides working on the ERGO campaign "Typical Roma?", ROMA will be concentrated on achieving the following goals:
To implement successfully the ERGO campaign "Typical Roma?".
To raise the issue about Roma youth inclusion in the policy creation process.
To promote positive values about Roma in society.
To establish a good service and prepare a good working program.
To strength the capacities of the active members, so they can plan and implement activities and projects independently.
For achieving these goals above, ROMA will have various activities that will be posted soon on the blog.
The Role of ROMA
The role of the team of ROMA will be to support the active Roma youth in organizing and implementing the activities and of course to provide logistics and validity/representation of the acting of the youth. The youth are the owner of their ideas and need to feel self-confidence, to make decision, so they feel useful. ROMA tries to keep their motivation, so their activism is on a high level and for avoiding passiveness, the youth will be given more responsibilities, to plan their own activities and implement them according to the strategy of ROMA. A lot of the ROMA members are students and lack of free time to devote to ROMA activities and sometimes this is a problem, but this is why the team of ROMA is always consulting with all members of ROMA and plan the time of implementing an activity in accordance with all of them, which sometimes means working or implementing activities in the week-ends. The team of ROMA will be also working with the youth, so they make and bring decisions and solutions, but also teach them to take the responsibility over them. ROMA will be the Guide that will guide the Roma youth through a process, where in the end they need to become independent and become our partners.
We are looking for the most Roma-friendly mayor in the north-east of Macedonia! The competition intends to make best practice examples visible and to show how local authorities and the Roma community can come together. More information following below in macedonian language:

Петте најдобри градоначалници од петте земји учеснички, како и по еден претставник на Ромската заедница од нивниот град ќе бидат поканети да присуствуваат 2 дена (плус 2 дена патување) на 2-иот Европски Ромски Самит во Кордоба, Шпанија, особено на ЕРГО настанот. Се очекува од победниците да имаат своја презентација во Кордоба или да присуствуваат на некој јавен настан. Тие имаат еден ден слободен за шетање и разгледување на знаменотистите на Кордоба.
Нивното патување и сместување е покриено од страна СПОЛУ Интернационалната Фондација (www.spolu.nl) , која воедно е и покровител на кампањата.
